In 2019, I lost my father-in-law and assisted my mother-in-law with settling his estate. It started with helping her pull his financial and legal information together. This experience made me see that there was a need to assist seniors in organizing their financial and legal lives. This sparked the idea for BRPS Consulting.

BRPS Consulting was created to assist seniors in organizing their financial and legal lives. Once organized, we document their wishes. We then consult with the senior’s trusted individual(s), who will some day make decisions on the senior’s behalf. Too often this discussion happens too late and the senior’s wishes are unknown. The decision maker (not necessarily the senior’s trusted individual) then makes decisions based on her/his own biases and wishes.
I have since realized that many couples divide the household chores up, where only one spouse takes care of the finances. What happens when the spouse that takes care of the finances passes? BRPS can go through your financial information, find out where your money is coming in, going out, and if any changes need to be made to ensure you do not prematurely run out of money!
Bethany Smith, CPA has more than 30 years of experience protecting corporate financial assets. She has more than 15 years understanding the complexity of the U.S. health care system. In addition, Bethany obtained her Masters in Psychology, where her capstone emphasized the importance of helping people understand the U.S. health care system. Protecting senior’s financial assets, evaluating financial risk to seniors and educating them on the U.S. Health Care system and how to protect themselves from elder fraud, are all a natural extension for this next phase of her career.
Bethany has performed these services for her mother and mother-in-law for more than 10 years. This has informed her where the pitfalls, needed communications, and common gaps are. Bethany understands that each person is unique and has different types of resources at her/his disposal. BRPS Consulting was created to help those individuals with low to mid net worth, who typically would think these services are out their reach.
